WCNC-TV Charlotte, the TEGNA-owned NBC affiliate in Charlotte, is seeking an innovative Producer to shape our daily newscasts. At WCNC-TV, we build creative shows that engage, educate, and inform our audiences. Responsibilities

  • Pitch compelling stories driven by your natural curiosity.
  • Showcase creativity and strong storytelling skills.
  • Craft stories of all lengths across all platforms for specific target audiences.
  • Consistently meet daily deadlines.
  • Combine live video, graphics, compelling footage, and emotional audio to create an engaging viewer experience.
  • Booth continuous live-stream coverage for breaking news and community events.
  • Test new approaches after thoughtful discussion with supervisors.
  • Allow impactful and emotional community conversations to guide the rundown content.
  • Utilize data analytics to shape show content.
  • Challenge traditional methods of content delivery.
  • Ensure all communities and viewpoints have a voice and representation in your show.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 1–3 years of news content experience.
  • Top-notch communication skills.
  • Solid journalistic judgment and a philosophy emphasizing accurate, fair, and unique local content alongside community engagement.
  • Deep understanding of professional journalism tenets.
  • Proven ability to produce engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content.
  • Strong social media skills with an active presence on key platforms.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to perform under tight deadline pressure.
  • Ability to calmly manage live, breaking news situations and rapidly changing events.
  • ENPS and Edius system experience preferred.
