Internship and Professional Placement

The media industry in Charlotte is currently seeking new talent to fill essential production and editorial roles. These positions offer a direct path for those looking to transition into a career in sports, news, or filmmaking.

Internship Qualifications

To maintain our relationships with industry partners and ensure the quality of our broadcasts, all applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Student Status: You must be an active student in good standing within your current program.

  • Commitment: You must be willing to work the specific hours requested by the internship provider.

  • Duration: All internships require a minimum commitment of three months.

  • Compensation: Some internships are compensated while others are for experience only. Please see the program director for specific details regarding paid roles.

Internal Opportunities at Radio CLT

Radio CLT provides a live environment for students to practice broadcasting fundamentals. We are currently filling the following positions for our internal operations.

News and Information

  • News Writing and Reading Interns: Responsible for researching local stories and delivering clear, factual reports during live broadcasts.

  • Sports Writing and Reading Interns: Focused on game analysis, score updates, and sports commentary for the Charlotte region.

  • Entertainment Writing and Reading Interns: Covering trends in cinema, music, and digital media for a daily audience.

Technical and Studio Operations

  • Control Board Intern: Managing the technical switching and audio levels for live studio sessions.

  • Editing Intern: Refining raw audio and video footage for final broadcast and digital distribution.

  • Shooter and Reporter Intern: Capturing field footage and conducting interviews at local events and sports matches.

Filmmaking and Narrative Production

For students focused on the cinematic arts, we offer specialized internships that cover every stage of the production process.

  • Screenwriting Intern: Assisting with script development, storyboarding, and dialogue refinement.

  • Casting and Directing Intern: Supporting the talent acquisition process and assisting the director on set with blocking and performance notes.

  • Cameras and Lighting Intern: Managing equipment setups, adjusting lighting configurations, and assisting with cinematography on professional shoots.
